Where is my data stored?
By default in your own CATAMA installation. Optionally, the DMS supports Amazon S3 (or S3-compatible providers) and WebDAV. On request, we'll host your instance in our German data center.
Is the DMS GDPR-compliant?
Yes. We use no trackers, all data processing happens in your own installation, and personal data stays there. This marketing site sets no cookies or tracking pixels whatsoever.
How does migration from my legacy system work?
We import your existing documents via bulk upload or directly from the file system. Existing folder structures, tags, and (when available) metadata are preserved. We also support initial tagging with OCR templates.
Can I roll back to an older version?
Yes. Every version of a document is preserved with its SHA-256 hash and can be promoted as the active version at any time – without data loss. The version history is traceable in the audit log.
What retention rules apply?
You define retention policies per folder. Optionally, set legal holds that protect documents from automatic deletion. Soft-delete recycle bin keeps documents available for a configurable period.
How does the ClamAV virus scan work?
Incoming files are passed to a ClamAV daemon before storage. You configure whether infected files are blocked or moved to a quarantine area. Status and statistics are visible in DMS admin (Support role only).
Which languages does OCR support?
Tesseract supports more than 100 languages. By default, German and English are active. Additional language packs can be installed on the server. Optionally, a cloud OCR (OCR.space) can be added as a fallback – e.g., for handwriting.
Does the DMS work on mobile?
Yes. The UI is responsive, with a burger menu, touch-friendly previews, image zoom, and a mobile signature pad. Recipients can sign documents directly on their smartphone.
Is there single sign-on?
The DMS uses CATAMA authentication. If your CATAMA installation is connected with SSO (e.g., SAML, OIDC), the DMS automatically benefits from it.
How is data backed up?
Database dumps and storage volumes should be backed up regularly – we recommend daily snapshots. With our hosting, automatic encrypted backup is included.
